The Maui Race Series organized by Hi-Tech this year are going to be condensed into three races in three consecutive days: July 27, 28 and 29. The massive Hi-Tech sale is coming up July 20th instead.
3am significant buoy readings and discussion.
SE
5.2ft @ 10s from 125° (ESE)
1.3ft @ 15s from 155° (SSE)
Barbers
4.1ft @ 11s from 170° (S)
1.1ft @ 16s from 199° (SSW)
Lanai
2.8ft @ 13s from 186° (S)
Both readings at SE and Barbers come from strong southern hemisphere trades (don't look at the latter directions), . From the post Buoys to Maui travel times and Maui's shadow lines we learn that the shadow line from the Big Island is 160, so, assuming true the directions at SE (who knows...), we shouldn't get too much of that. That is a blessing, because the remaining energy from the south reported by Lanai is slowly declining in period, but it's still pretty solid in size and it should be undisturbed by it. How's this one at the harbor? Check the webcam before going.
North shore
Hanalei
0.5ft @ 16s from 347° (NNW)
Waimea
2ft @ 9s from 352° (N)

Mokapu
2.8ft @ 6s from 96° (E)
Hilo
5.7ft @ 8s from 98° (E)
Nothing going on in the North Pacific.
A small fetch way down south is all we get today from the south.
Morning sky.
