2 minutes of yet another exciting wingfoiling downwinder yesterday. The Gopro doesn't show the size of the bumps, but it does show the speed. Hate when I miss that handle.
5am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Lanai
- 2ft, 11s, S 170º
Barbers
- 0.9ft, 20s, SSW 195º
Barbers shows the beginning of a new long period swell (Lanai did earlier), the one of the WSL contest in Tahiti. Below are the maps of August 12 through 15 that show the fetch that generated it.
As usual, distantly generated long period swell have a very slow start with lots of lulls. Size and consistency should increase throughout the day, with the best days tomorrow and Monday. Ole longboard contest at Launiupoko. Check the Lahaina webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.North shore
Waimea
- 1.4ft, 8s, N 355º
- 0.6ft, 10s, N 10º
Mokapu
- 4.5ft, 7s, ESE 105º
Very small northerly energy at Waimea and ESE windswell at Mokapu should make for close to flat conditions on the north shore.
Wind map at noon. The other ones can be found here.
Fetches map (circles legend: red: direct aim, blue: angular spreading, black: blocked, yellow: possibly over the ice sheet) from Windy.
