Sunday 8 13 23 morning call

Kanaha yesterday. I didn't see this guy's attempt to wing on a surfboard, it seemed not windy enough for that.

5am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion. South shore

    • 1.4ft

Both buoys show some decent energy. Check the Kihei webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.

North shore

Hanalei

  • 0.8ft
    , 14s, W 275º

Waimea

  • 1ft
    , 15s, WNW 290º

Mokapu

    • 4.1ft
      , 5s, E 95º
    • 1.2ft
      , 10s, E 95º

Hanalei and Waimea (this last one recently back online) show some westerly energy out of the typhoons off Japan, but that's to west to reach Maui's north shore. The easterly windswell comes from 95 degrees and that's not gonna hit it either. Home guess for Hookipa is flat.

Wind map at noon. The other ones can be found here.
