Hookipa yesterday afternoon.
5am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Lanai
- 2.2ft, 7s, S 180º
Barbers
- 1.9ft, 9s, S 180º
Very small southerly energy at the buoys. Check the Lahaina webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.
North shore
NW001
- 8.2ft, 14s, NW 310º
Hanalei
- 5.9ft, 12s, NW 320º
- 2.5ft, 15s, NW 325º
Waimea
- 3.6ft, 13s, NW 325º
- 3.5ft, 11s, NNW 330º
NW energy continues pretty solid at the NW buoy, but definitely smaller at Waimea. Home guess for Hookipa is around head to head and and a half and once again clean thanks to another wonderful windless day. Despite its La Nina classification, this winter has been a classic one so far.
Fetches map (circles legend: red: direct aim, blue: angular spreading, black: blocked, yellow: possibly over the ice sheet) from Windy.
North Pacific (about 4 days travel time from the NW corner of the North Pacific):
