Eastern exposure yesterday afternoon.
4am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Lanai
- 2.4ft, 13s, SW 235º
- 1.6ft, 10s, W 270º
- 2.3ft, 6s, SSW 195º
Lanai shows a decent size SW energy plus the windswell left by the Kona. Check the Lahaina webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.
North shore
NW001
- 5.7ft, 10s, NW 315º
NW101
- 7.4ft, 10s, WNW 300º
Hanalei
- 6.4ft, 10s, WNW 300º
Mokapu
- 3.4ft, 8s, E 90º
- 1.4ft, 13s, NNE 25º
- 4.1ft, 8s, E 80º
- 4ft, 6s, E 90º
Short period WNW energy rose significantly at the buoys. Hard to guess how much of it we're going to get it, for sure Hookipa will receive more than other spots more east of it that will be sheltered by the West Maui Mountain. No shelter for the 1.4ft 13s from 25 degrees that Mokapu is showing though.
Home guess for Hookipa is such a shot in the dark without Pauwela that I almost feel like not doing it. But whatever, a guess is a guess: head high with possible bigger sets. No wind for the first part of the morning, light sea breeze for the rest of the day.
Fetches map (circles legend: red: direct aim, blue: angular spreading, black: blocked, yellow: possibly over the ice sheet) from Windy.
North Pacific (about 4 days travel time from the NW corner of the North Pacific):
