Monday 3 8 21 morning call

Hookipa yesterday. Photo by Jimmie Hepp from this album.

5am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Barbers
1ft @ 12s from 210° (SSW)

Lanai
1.4ft @ 16s from 206° (SSW)
1ft @ 12s from 183° (S)

Don't get excited about the new unexpected 16s energy at Lanai, as the webcam doesn't show much.
Check the Lahaina or Kihei webcams if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.

North shore
NW001
4.1ft @ 13s from 339° (NNW)

Pauwela

7.2ft @ 8s from 51° (ENE)
2.9ft @ 11s from 354° (N)
1.9ft @ 15s from 333° (NNW)

New low long period energy is at the buoys. Below are the maps of Mar 3 through 5 that show the fetch that generated it. Honestly, I would have expected a bit more from it, but a couple of feet 15s is all we got.

Together with the windswell, that should give waves in the head to head and a third range.

Wind map at noon. The other ones can be found here (click on animation of the 10 meter column).
