Monday 3 25 24 morning call

Hookipa yesterday. Photo by Jimmie Hepp from this album.

Just like yesterday, Hookipa got bigger at sunset with the arrival of the first sets of a new long period swell.

The strong easterly wind of the last couple of days provided for some wild downwind conditions. Yesterday Mauidownwindfoil set up another unofficial practice race. Kane De Wilde flew from Maliko to the harbor in an unbelievable 27 minutes and 19 seconds and pretty much everyone else set a personal record. I was on an Eagle 690, fell once and touched down (and restarted immediately thanks to the Foil Drive) about 5 times. Again, don't make the mistake to compare my time to the others, as the advantage of the free take-offs provided by the Foil Drive is huge. Btw, I have one Gen 2 Max available at Hi-Tech. I'll be there today 2 to 6, or contact me via email (link on the right) if interested.

No southerly energy at Barbers. Check the Kihei webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.

New long NW swell on the rise all day. Home guess for Hookipa is around head and a half to double overhead in the morning, building up to triple overhead at sunset.
