Here's a short version (I recommend to watch this first) with soundtrack of yesterday's longboard sailing session with Jeff. The idea was to test Dolf's SOS 11.11 (none of us had ever sailed it), but we ended up just having a hell lot of fun on those little waves. In the video, Jeff was sailing my Starboard 12.2.
There's one wave that looks foggy, because evidently there was a drop of water on the lens, but you will forgive me if I left it... it was a good one.
Overall, I'm stoked that the clips came out of such a good quality. I hope they will give you an idea of the colors that we are enjoying in this cloudless days here in Maui.
Here we go.

Here's a longer version with my live comments. As you will hear, I was really impressed by Jeff's longboard wave sailing ability.

If you can't see them here, try here.
I mean, did you guys get the feel of how much fun Jeff was having?
...SUP boards without the mast track should be illegal.
And now, I ask for 5 seconds of your time (and what the hell!) to vote for the one you liked better. Thanks!
Well, today it was another fun session (windy enough for the shortboard), this time with Oly (also know as Oly from England). Took a bunch of clips, got to edit them.
It looks like the north shore is going flat for a while. Thank god there should be a couple of days of waves on the south shore, starting tomorrow. And after that... not much on either shores.
Think I'm gonna get bored? We'll see...

Thanks for the first vote (both exactly the same... hehe... got to love that) that came from a place near a street called Handellaan somewhere between the towns of Den Haad and Leiden (where it's easy to get leiden) in Holland.
I wonder if this is accurate information (would love a confirmation comment), but I defenitely love the map of the poll.
Love the commentary, or should it be 'cammartary' ..........
hahahahahahah!
'You godda be kiddin me!'
Love it, beats 14 degrees and rain here :(
The JH Show………(to plagiarize Ulli) average!
No really,I loved it-boy of boy you lot better enjoy those beautiful empty waves while you can. “SUP boards without the mast track should be illegal”…..be careful what you ask for my friend!
Hey Giampaolo,
I liked both as well. The first one was tight, short and sweet. The second was a little more detailed and descriptive. I'm a big fan of Louis Armstrong and it gave me the idea of giving Jeff a new nickname. How about "Pops" or "Sachmo" Henderson?
I think that was the best advertisement for the whole SUP windsurfing thing that I have ever seen. Congratulations!
Excellent vid (but allready said that on the Hot forum). I truly believe that you guys are on to something. My longboard sesh didn't have these nice waves but I was the only one out with a big smile on my face. Happy indeed!
Liked the long version of the vid the best, especially the end bit :-)
Keep 'em coming! Glad you are bag on the island!
maybe there is something enjoyable about tooling around on a longboard. maybe there is something enjoyable about driving around the LeMans race track in a horse-drawn buggy. not for me. the more I see, the less interested I become. it's all yours. enjoy it. this is one guy who will never be crowding you on a low-wind day. you have my blessing. go forth and multiply. and, when there's a million of you out there, please show some respect to the surfers. the "SUP squad" is messing things up bad enough already.
Yup as you could see lot of surfers were out.
I can understand that on some spots this could be a problem but today at Zandvoort (wheer I sailed) absolutely 0 surfers in the water.
Fabulous footage. Really shows the potential. Now if only we all had a Kanaha style wave...
Thanks everybody for the comments.
SUP surfers hogging waves? Sure, if they're assholes... but blame them, not the SUP boards.
The way you do something depends on you and your attitude.
Don't see as much conflict between longboard sailors and surfers, even thought that's possible too.
Same as above.
As Jeff said, absolutely no surfers out in our session. Those waves would have gone unridden...
Michael... now, that's a good point! I always wondered how it is to sail a longboard in non-kanaha-perfect conditions... prolly not as great, but Robin seems to enjoy it in Europe...
That's the thing: even if it's not perfect waves (or is flat), going sailing on a longboard with 8 knots is always better than reading a windsurfing magazine on the beach...
I GET IT! Guns don't kill people, PEOPLE kill people. The ones that do, are assholes. Thank you! I needed a reminder.
Anon,
I really don't get your unnecessary and excessive sarcasm...
Let us know exactly what your problem is... maybe together we can find a solution.
Take it easy!
OK,
Sharon just told me that that is a phrase usually used by NRA (National Rifle Association).
So maybe you weren't that sarcastic... in which case, I apologize.
But, I'd say that there's a big difference between a gun and a SUP board. One is to kill, the other is one more possibility to have fun in the water.
Even though when the conditions are good, I still like to go regular surfing, I think that the SUP makes fun also riding little waves (i.e. Maui's south shore most of the times).
I don't know... I'm kind of lost...
