Monday 4 13 20 morning call

Thousand Peaks was knee to waist high and clean yesterday morning, while Hookipa got actually better mid day as the wind was never particularly strong and the rising mid tide was perfect for most breaks. I took this photo of Kane from the road before hitting the water for a surprisingly fun session. There weren't many, but as stated in the early morning beach report, there were some diamonds in the rough. It looked pretty bad at sunset instead, because of the very high tide.

5am significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Barbers
1.7ft @ 12s from 212° (SW)

Lanai
2.4ft @ 13s from 183° (S)

That reading at Lanai is pretty decent, and so are the waves on the Lahaina webcam, which, if interested, you should always check for size, conditions and consistency.

North shore
NW101
5.7ft @ 10s from 2° (N)

Hanalei
4.6ft @ 9s from 347° (NNW)

Waimea
5.2ft @ 9s from 339° (NNW)

Pauwela
5.4ft @ 9s from 331° (NNW)
2.9ft @ 5s from 68° (ENE)

The 9s NNW energy seems pretty steady at all the buoys, so it should stay pretty steady also locally. Head high with bigger sets up to head and a half is my guess of the size at Hookipa. I'll post a beach report later, hopefully before 8am.

Wind map at noon (the other ones can be found at link n.-2 of GP's meteo websites list in the right column).

North Pacific fetches map (about 4 days travel time from the NW corner):
NW fetch still pretty strong while a new almost straight west one appears off Japan.

South Pacific fetches map (about 7 days travel time from east of New Zealand):
Pretty decent fetch SE of New Zealand. The part circled in blue is not aiming directly at us, but we should still get some angular spreading.

Morning sky.
