Wednesday 12 2 20 morning call

Hookipa yesterday morning had really good conditions. Micah.

Much bigger at sunset when the XL swell started to show some teeth. This is around 5.15pm, by 6pm there were sets that closed out the channel. I believe it was "just" 2.5-3ft 23s in the water.

5am significant buoy readings and discussion
.
South shore
Not a chance for eventual southerly energy to show at the buoys (which are only feeling the NW swell wrap). Check the Lahaina webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency. Seems like the NW energy is so big that it's finding a way to get even there.

North shore
NW001
18.9ft @ 17s from 304° (WNW)

Waimea
10.7ft @ 18s from 315° (NW)

The NW001 buoy just peaked at 20ft 17s at 4am, which should equate to a peak in Maui around 5pm. Below are the graphs of NW001 and Waimea together with the Surfline forecast.

With a windless forecast, the center of surfing world today is going to be Jaws. Be ready to be flooded by clips and photos on social media of what is going to be an incredible day at the most famous big waves spot on Earth. Only surfable spots on the north shore will be the harbor and possibly Paia Bay (this last one at your own risk). Honolua Bay will also be going off, with all the WSL ladies in the water. Yesterday I ended up surfing a spot with a just couple of friends and Stephanie Gilmore. Be safe everyone.

Wind map at noon .The other ones can be found at link n.-2 of GP's meteo websites list in the right column (click on animation of the 10 meter column).

Fetches map (circles legend: red: direct aim, blue: angular spreading, black: blocked, yellow: apparent direct aim, but out of the great circle ray map, so not 100% sure).
