Friday 3 22 19 morning call

The funding campaign for the new Lahaina harbor webcam has raised $580. Thanks a lot and let's keep them coming. I'm gonna start my posts with an update like this until it reaches its goal of $2,000.

Day 2 of forced rest for me yesterday. This is Tanner Hendrickson who was out by himself in the late morning amongst a bunch of Cabrinha kiters. Jimmie Hepp has an album of the kite shots.

Those ones are instead from the large windsurfing album. Conditions looked pretty epic to me again, or is it like that when you're looking at a discipline that know you can't do?

Kai Lenny spent the whole day windsurfing and totally ripped. How much better would he be if he only windsurfed? Maybe a little better, for sure a lot poorer.

4am significant buoy readings
South shore
Lanai
1.2ft @ 15s from 227° (SW)

Slivers of southerly energy at the Lanai buoy and Ala Moana confirms that (took me long time before I saw that wave breaking). There might be sporadic isolated sets, but overall it's going to be flat.

North shore
NW101
6.9ft @ 13s from 343° (NNW)
4.3ft @ 10s from 342° (NNW)

Hanalei
6.8ft @ 13s from 323° (NW)
5.5ft @ 10s from 320° (NW)

Waimea
7.8ft @ 13s from 320° (NW)

Pauwela
7.3ft @ 13s from 334° (NNW)
2.3ft @ 10s from 335° (NNW)

Beautiful numbers at the buoys, this has been a pretty amazing run of NW swells with good conditions for surfing in the morning and excellent conditions for wind related sports in the afternoon. Doesn't seem like it's going to change anytime soon, so enjoy those 7ft 13s from 334. Hookipa is going to be well overhead (pushing double) and the wind at my house at 6.30am is pretty light. Honolua is going to be gorgeous as usual when it breaks on easterly winds.

Wind map at noon.

North Pacific has a NW fetch.

Nothing from the south.

Morning sky.
