Wednesday 6 23 21 morning call

Hookipa yesterday morning.

Couple of reader contributions here. Blog reader Carlos sent me an image of Maalaea on Sunday afternoon asking me if I knew this uncle... well, it happened to be my buddy and coworker Gianfranco who then proceeded to crop the shot and there it is.

Aaron Paulk sent me this photo of the Maui surfers that performed extremely well at the adaptive surfing championship last week in Oceanside CA.

5am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Barbers

2.1ft @ 13s from 186° (S)
1.3ft @ 16s from 184° (S)

Lanai

1.5ft @ 14s from 175° (S)
1ft @ 16s from 190° (S)

Old swell winding down but still in the water, new small swell showing 1ft 16s at Lanai. Seems like pretty decent readings, but what counts is what the webcam shows, which is a lot less than the past few days, unless one of the very inconsistent 16s sets arrives. Check the Lahaina webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.
Tired of waiting for a set, here's how it looks like most of the time.

North shore
NW101
3ft @ 12s from 292° (WNW)

Hanalei
1.7ft @ 12s from 328° (NW)

Waimea
1.3ft @ 13s from 315° (NW)

Pauwela

3.4ft @ 9s from 38° (NE)
2.2ft @ 11s from 50° (NE)

New small WNW pulse will be on the rise all day. Pauwela doesn't feel it yet, its westerly direction probably doesn't help. Meanwhile, the day will start with some NE energy that should give Hookipa clean chest to possibly shoulder high waves in the early morning.

Forecast and energy spectrum of Pauwela from this PACIOOS page.

Wind map at noon. The other ones can be found here (click on animation of the 10 meter column).
