Old NW swell pretty much gone while a new long period one rose to 10ft 16s at the NW buoys and is just starting to show with less than a foot 18s at Pauwela. It will continue rising locally all day and Surfline calls for 4ft 16s at sunset and 11ft 14s tomorrow. Below are the maps of December 8 through 11 that show the fetch that generated it.

Also notice the strong easterly windswell clocking in at 5ft 10s. Too east to hit Hookipa (but the 10s period might allow for some wrapping around Pauwela Point. Home guess for Hookipa is particularly difficult today. I'm going to call very small with possible flat spells and the occasional set of the new NW swell and/or the easterly windswell that could be up to head high. It should build up to overhead at sunset. East facing shores should have overhead waves from the east all day.
The rest of the week will be characterized by relatively strong trades with a more northerly component than usual and that will make for very rough conditions on the north shore starting tomorrow.
strong easterly instead starting next week.

Wind map at noon. The other ones can be found here.
