Happy hollowdays!

It's 10.30 pm and thanks to the lack of wind, I can hear the waves from my place.
I love that.

Today I sailed on the longboard (or surfed with the sail, if you prefere) four hours in a row. I had so many killer left/upwind, backwinding rides.
The highlight of the day, though, was Pete Cabrinha that passed by on his kite, smiled and shouted:"that's great!".
Maybe he was just talking loud to himself... but I really think he meant the thing that I was doing!
Maybe it wasn't him...

Yesterday the waves were pretty big, some mast high sets, but fortunately not particolarly consistent, so it was possible to use the channel.
I went out for a couple of hours (longboard sailing, of course) and kept an eye on Michelle, that was out there alone on her shortboard trying to catch these monsters and... guess what? Catching them!
Here she is shaka signing. See the wave on the back almost closing all the way to Kahului? That was a small one...

Ok, today and yesterday are covered... what about tomorrow?
Here's Pat's little table of the swells for the following days. Feet, direction, period. The size in feet is of the swell in open ocean. When it hits the reef, depending on the period, it can easily be double of that or more. As Pat says:"the longer the period, the bigger the amplification on the reef".

SAT 12/23

MON 12/25

TUE 12/26

WED 12/27

The wind is forecasted to be 9-13 mph for the whole period. And that means... more longboard sailing ahead! Let's see if I can get some action shots...

Let me quote Pat again:"Happy hollowdays!"

hey, super fun session - thanks for sharing kanaha, I know you are usually alone! Happy to catch some good rides and watch you on some good waves. Still laughing about when you were yelling "there's a mother one coming" and I didn't realise until it dumped on my head. I thought you said "shark"!!

Ciao Nico.

Meesh, where did you surf saturday? I had a super fun sesh at Kanaha in the morning and at sunset I made the mistake of trying Hoo (middles)...
I haveno problem taking off on double overhead giants, but not with six shortboarders sitting on the inside in front of me. I'm glad I didn't kill anybody (me included...).
Looks like this morning (Sunday) is still big and I'll defenitely go to Kanaha again. The NW buoy shows an increase from 9 to 12 feet. It's going to be huge in the afternoon.

It's a good thing that I already cooked for tonight.
Pasta al forno alla siciliana, you guys. 12 lucky bastards in Maui will enjoy yet another Cammar creation...

Hope you had a great session and have a grand party tonight. Not too big on commercial Christmas so just have a great one with the people you love to be around.

7 degrees, no waves (yet) but the 31st looks promissing.

The party was fun. Everybody brought one less then $10 gift and then we picked one number from 1 to 12 and started picking one present each according to the number (1 first, 12 last). The following person had the chance to pick an unopen gift or "steal" one already opened from someone else, who, in turn, could pick another unopen one from the bunch.

Despite my shitty number 2, I ended up with a very suspicious DVD titled:"how to pick up canadian girls"... can't wait to watch it.

Maybe tonight after another day of epic surfing conditions. It's glassy and sunny all day since at least three days. Let's see if I can take some photos today...
