just a boring rainy day on the north shore... part four

This is the fourth and final part of the report of that day that started with some big rain in Paia.
I'm trying a sw that a guy called Diego developed to flick on a blog thru photos that are stored in flickr.com. I like it, even though you don't see the description that I added to some of them (unless you click on the 'photo link' button and go to flickr).
I like the space saving though. You can just click on the big photo and it will flick thru all the photos.
Let me know your comments about it. And grazie Diego! Which is a sentence that sounds familiar to a guy from Napoli...

Mmm... I don't like the white space on top of the photos.
AND, it's too wide and it makes the profile and archives sections go all the way to the end of this page. Tried to resize it, but then you lose the filmstrip at the bottom. For this reason, I'll keep the flicker for a few days and then I'll replace it with a link to the flickr website where you will still be able to see the photos.
Oh well, I tried...
If you can't see them on this page, go to my flickr page.

Here's the slideshow.

Anyway, some kewl shots, uh?

These other two photos deserve special attention, so I left them out of the flicker.
This amazingly beautiful body part belongs to a sweet argentinian girl.

And this is the fantastic vechicle that made the trip possible. 32 miles per gallon (thanks to the manual shift), power locks, power windows, excellent sound.
I would not trade my car for any other vehicle. Unless it has more room and eats less gasoline, which is pretty much impossible to find in Maui. Maybe a biodiesel wagon... now that Ben makes me think about it...
A van? Forget about it! I need to feel free to get in my car and drive to any surf spot in the island without having to calculate how much the trip will cost me...
A small pickup? No way, all that rain on my sails and sun on my board...
This IS the car of my dreams...

PS. The front bumper was attacked by a shark...

By the size of those teeth marks on your bumper, I estimate that shark to have been 29 metres long.....I thought your car was red!

Those images are truelly world class, you have a great eye for a photo

PS: I love the flicker

the bay looked goood!! I am surprised it was so big, ho'okipa was about the same size, is it possible?

anyway, unfortunately I also have trouble with the mac for accessing these photos. Love the mac, but this is a bummer

Lano, I'm a little disappointed... only a comment about the car?!?! By the way, I like that car so much that I own two of them...
the other one is for rent.

Meesh, I just put in the post the link to the page where you can see all the photos...
Were you able to see the videos on the dropshots page? Did you see that guy breaking his board in two pieces after that horrible wipeout?

I guess it's possible under the right circumstances (swell direction and size) that Honolua and Hookipa are the same size... but don't ask me what the circumstances are! Got to be big, I guess...

The Flickr is working fine (nice pics, can't remember seeing a car ;o) ), it is messing up the layout of the blog a bit though (mozilla firefox browser). From what I've read you are going to get quite some swell. Enjoy!!

Hey GP,

Hopefully you know a good car mecanic! Old cars ... well, you have a second one for parts.

Why don't you get a little motorbike with car behind, the cheapest and maybe even fastest way ?! Hm, don't know if the cops would mind, here they would. Bloody Europe!

So,so great photos again, just what you need in the right now grey parts of the globe, Lano is totally about you photo skills! Thank you for publishing this stuff!!!
The lovely argentenian surfer replaced the blonde one on my desktop, mhm!

Enjoy the island(s),

Chris

Thanks Robin, I noticed that too.
With IE, instead, the effect is the slide to the bottom of the page of the profile (as I say in the post).
That's why I'll remove it in a few days. I'll put a link to flickr where you can still choose the slideshow option.

Oh yeah, big waves and strong wind starting Thursday. The lifeguards at Kanaha are going to be busy... hopefully not with me!

Chris, yesterday the girl sent me an email to receive the photos and I told there to check the blog and let me know if (for some weird reason... please not!) she wants me to remove the photo...
Ops! Too late... you were quicker.

I'd be stoked to be the screensaver of any girl, but we're all different...

Haven't heard from her yet! Cross your fingers...

GP, let me know if that lovely female surfer minds being my "lighten up those grey days" cover.

Uh, out of respect I would have to replace it, what would be a shame, of course! She is really sweet, I like also the photo, showing her coming down the rocks. Nice rocks, too, must be volcanic waterwashed stuff, never saw those kind of rocks. Just a perfect frame...!

Have a nice day and keep the lifeguards unemployed on you,

Chris

Thanks Lim.

Lifeguards quite busy thursday, as easily forecasted (they should call me to check when it's best to call in sick...), but not on me.
My sailing was extremely cautious, and I'm pretty stoked about all the decisions I took in the water.
As soon as I got to the beach I asked a friend how it was. He said:"going out thru the channel is a bit dicey, because sometimes it closes out."
I thanked him to having taught me the word dicey, but I actually think that it's mostly up to you to time it right. I'm pretty good at chicken jibes, which I would call smart jibes, instead.
Let's see if I can avoid damages today (Friday) too...

Ciao!

Cammar, you can change the size of your PictoBrowser a little bit so that it doesn't break your css layout.

try changing the HTML code you pasted.
Set the width to 400 and the height to 450 and it'll look nicer on your blog.

peace,

Diego (PictoBrowser guy)

Hey Cammar, tell us more about that shark. I'm totally in awe with anything that can inflict such damage on your car.
