Sunday 8 30 20 morning call

Second day in a row of completely flat on all Maui shores, here's a reminder of how waves look like... in Tahiti at least. Photo by Ben Thouard.

Jason Hall and buddies did a downwind run launching at the upper end of Hookipa.

5am significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Barbers
1.1ft @ 11s from 167° (SSE)
0.7ft @ 16s from 186° (S)

Lanai
1.1ft @ 11s from 159° (SSE)
0.6ft @ 16s from 176° (S)

Despite the sliver of 16s energy, we can call it flat also today. Check the Lahaina webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency. Oh look, here's a wave!

North shore
Pauwela
5.1ft @ 6s from 64° (ENE)

Tiny waves at Hookipa and on eastern exposures.

Wind map at noon (the other ones can be found at link n.-2 of GP's meteo websites list in the right column).

Fetches map (circles legend: red: direct aim, blue: angular spreading, black: blocked, yellow: apparent direct aim, but out of the great circle ray map, so not 100% sure).
North Pacific (about 4 days travel time from the NW corner of the North Pacific):

South Pacific (about 7 days travel time from east/west of New Zealand):
