Sunday 2 13 22 morning call

Hookipa yesterday morning.

4am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Barbers
0.1ft @ 22s from 185° (S)

Barbers remarkably records a tenth of a foot at 22s that won't be visible in the water just yet, but it's a sign that starting tomorrow there will be a small long period south swell. Below are the maps of Feb 7 through 9 that show the fetch that generated. Most of the energy will be of the angular spreading kind, so expect low consistency. Check the Lahaina and Kihei webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.

North shore
NW101
4.1ft @ 10s from 2° (N)

NW001

3.7ft @ 10s from 331° (NNW)

Hanalei

3.5ft @ 12s from 303° (WNW)
3.4ft @ 9s from 349° (NNW)

Waimea

3.8ft @ 13s from 300° (WNW)
3.2ft @ 9s from 342° (NNW)

Mokapu
3ft @ 8s from 54° (ENE)

The WNW energy at the upstream buoys is declining and will continue to do so tomorrow until a new pretty solid swell arrives on Tuesday (5.8ft at 18s from 307) predicted by Surfline for the afternoon). Home guess for Hookipa around head high, probably not the cleanest, seeing the sideon flow.

Forecast of Pauwela from this PACIOOS page.
