Wednesday 2 9 22 morning call

4am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Barbers is mostly reading NW wrap and can't be used to detect small southerly energy. Check the Lahaina and Kihei webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.

North shore
NW101
6.6ft @ 13s from 310° (WNW)

Hanalei

5.7ft @ 14s from 314° (NW)

Waimea

4.3ft @ 15s from 311° (NW)
2.1ft @ 11s from 318° (NW)

Mokapu
4.1ft @ 9s from 79° (ENE)

Hilo
5.1ft @ 9s from 84° (E)

New WNW to NW energy picked up at the upstream buoys. Below are the maps of Feb 5 through 7 that show the fetch that generated. As you can see, the low raced across the Pacific at vary high speed, which usually doesn't help the surf generation. The fetch itself is not particularly intense, so the numbers at the buoys seem surprisingly high. But the maps only show a sample every 24h, so my guess is that the fetch got a lot stronger between sampling moments.

Below are the graphs of NW101 and Waimea together with the Surfline forecast. Home guess for Hookipa is around head and a half with possible bigger sets.
