Saturday 10 9 21 morning call

Hookipa yesterday. Photo by Jimmie Hepp from this album.

This was Kanaha.

4am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Barbers
3.5ft @ 18s from 190° (S)

South swell slowly picked up during the day yesterday and today shows some remarkable numbers at Barbers. No doubt there will be big waves anywhere facing south (possibly still inconsistent though), the problem will be to find a place sheltered by the very strong trades. Kihei coast might be the best bet. Check the Lahaina webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.

North shore
Kaneohe Bay
7.1ft @ 9s from 44° (NE)

My last couple of Hookipa home guesses have been smaller than it was in reality and I guess that's because of the lingering NW energy from the Mendulle swell. Now that is completely gone, but 7ft 9s from 44 will still provide the north and east facing shores with overhead waves.

Forecast of Pauwela from this PACIOOS page.

Wind map at noon. The other ones can be found here (click on animation of the 10 meter column).

Fetches map

North Pacific
(about 4 days travel time from the NW corner of the North Pacific):

South Pacific
(about 7 days travel time from east/west of New Zealand):

Thanks for the report GP! Really looking forward to the winds not being gale force today! Loading long boards on the roof rack this weekend with that wind was pretty sketchy
