Friday 3 4 22 morning call

No photos from yesterday. This is a long video of all the waves I caught in two sessions (Kaa and Harbor) on March 1st which I put together for research purpose, as I wanted to see which part of my 5.2x28.5x110L SUP foiling board touch the water first in the cutback touch-downs. I learned a lot from it and as a result, today I'm testing another board that is instead 5.0x26.5x90L, which should be perfect for the new style of paddling out on my butt and only standing up when it's time to catch a wave.
It's a new discipline that should be called
SDPOASUPFTWF (Sit Down Paddle Out And Stand Up Paddle For The Wave Foiling), but that's not particularly friendly, so I'm just gonna call it Butt Foiling.

Many thanks to Jeff Henderson for the mount (only works with Maui Resin Designs long tracks), inspired by the
original ingenious Finshot mount by FeatherFlash. Thumbnail photo by Tomoko.

4am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.

South shore
Barbers is mostly reading NW wrap and can't be used to detect small southerly energy. Check the Lahaina and Kihei webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.

North shore
NW101
7.8ft @ 14s from 302° (WNW)

Hanalei

8.6ft @ 14s from 311° (NW)
3.6ft @ 10s from 31° (NE)

Waimea

6.1ft @ 14s from 320° (NW)
3.1ft @ 11s from 9° (N)

Pauwela

4.3ft @ 15s from 315° (NW)
4.2ft @ 9s from 51° (ENE)

New WNW swell picked up at all the buoys overnight. Below are the graphs of NW101, Waimea and Pauwela, together with the Surfline forecast in the lower right corner. Original dominant direction is around 300, so the Hookipa area will be much bigger than the Kahului one. The shorter period NE energy will get everywhere instead. Home guess for Hookipa is for around head and a half with possible double overhead sets later in the day. Not sure about how clean it will be, as the NE energy and the light northerly flow might introduce some chops/wobbles into the lip lines.

Forecast of Pauwela from this PACIOOS page.
