NW to NNW swell was much bigger than the buoy readings yesterday. Double mast high (25 feet faces) were observed at Hookipa while Pauwela was reading 6ft 14s of NW energy. Below is its graph that gives us a clue to a possible explanation. In the afternoon, the black line (significant wave height, sum of all the energies in the water) went up because of the shorter period NNE energy that overlapped to the existing long period NW one.

Buoy readings are still pretty high this morning, so conditions should be similar to yesterday: tons of energy and big waves. Home guess for Hookipa is for double overhead and too much energy to be good, I'd seek a sheltered spot instead.
