Tuesday 1 21 20 morning call

Gorgeous day of waves yesterday. This is my pick of Jimmie Hepp's album of the windsurfing action at Hookipa. I surfed 2 hours and windsurfed 1, it was a really good day.

4am significant buoy readings and discussion
South shore
No indication of southerly energy at Barbers, check the Lahaina webcam.

North shore
NW001
4.6ft @ 11s from 341° (NNW)

Waimea
5.3ft @ 13s from 329° (NW)

Pauwela
5.5ft @ 13s from 346° (NNW)

Fun size and perfect direction for most north shore and west side spots. Hookipa will top the heights, probably in the head and a half range (I'll likely report from the beach later). It's the start of a wonderful 4 days of light wind, I expect the surf wax sales to soar.

Wind map at noon. It should be no wind or light offshore till around 10am at Hookipa, possibly later for the rest of the north shore.

Strong and relatively close NW fetch (with a new low following behind) is generating a swell that should reach warning levels. Surfline has it at 15ft 16s from 319 on Thursday.

South Pacific offers a semi-decent S fetch for the third day in a row. 1ft 14s predicted by Surfline Monday/Tuesday.

Morning sky.
