Friday 9 30 22 morning call

Kanaha yesterday.

Very small long period southerly energy is at the buoys. Below are the maps of September 24 through 26 that show the fetch that generated it.

I don't think we'll see much of it today and tomorrow, but Surfline calls for 2ft 16s for Sunday. Check the Lahaina webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.

New small but long period NW swell is at the upstream buoys and will rise all day locally. Below are the maps of Sept 26 through 28 that show the fetch that generated it. As you can see, it moved across the great circle rays, thus limiting the wave formation.

Below is the Surfline forecast that calls for 2ft 15s by sunset time.

Home guess for Hookipa is around waist high to start the day with, gradually growing to head high plus by sunset.

Wind map at noon. The other ones can be found here.

Wednesday 9 28 22 morning call

Kanaha yesterday.

6am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.

Small south swell leftovers at the buoys. Check the Lahaina webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.

Hanalei

  • 3.3ft

  • 1.6ft
    , 7s, E 90º
  • 1.9ft
    , 4s, ENE 70º

The small NNW energy that we discussed yesterday is at the upstream buoys. Locally it's pretty unimpressive but it should make Hookipa a bit bigger than it's been (doesn't take much). Home guess is around waist high, eventually building a bit in the afternoon.

Wind map at noon. The other ones can be found here.

Tuesday 9 27 22 morning call

Couple of windsurfers out at a remarkably flat Hookipa yesterday.

I feel like sharing the video that JD Follow Cam shot during the last weekend, dedicated to the wahine. Being so subtle and so weight sensitive, winging (or foiling in general) is a discipline in which the ladies might actually have an advantage over the gents.

6am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.

  • 0.6ft

Traces of small NW energy at the buoys, I don't think it'll do much locally today, but it's predicted to increase throughout the day and offer a couple of feet at 12s tomorrow. Below are the maps of September 24 and 25 that show the fetch that generated it.

Home guess for Hookipa in the morning is still flat to knee high.

Wind map at noon. The other ones can be found here.

Still shoulder high sets at Thousand Peaks.

Always refreshing to see Kai Lenny enjoying relatively easy waves and ripping them apart on his tiny SUP.
