Hookipa yesterday afternoon.
5am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Barbers
- 0.9ft, 18s, SSW 210º
Lanai
- 1ft, 18s, SSW 200º
- 1.3ft, 12s, S 190º
- 0.9ft, 14s, SSW 205º
New 18s southerly energy is at the buoys. Below are the maps of April 23 and 24 that show the fetch that generated it. This is not the much bigger swell that will start arriving Tuesday (we'll check the fetch then), but it does mark the start of a week of elevated surf on the south shore.
Check the Lahaina webcam if interested,
for size, conditions and consistency.
North shore
NW001
- 2.8ft, 11s, NNW 330º
Hanalei
- 2.3ft, 10s, N 355º
- 0.7ft, 13s, NNW 345º
Waimea
- 2.9ft, 10s, NNW 330º
Mokapu
- 2.1ft, 11s, N 5º
- 3.1ft, 6s, ENE 60º
- 2.5ft, 4s, ENE 60º
NW energy is pretty marginal, while the easterly windswell hasn't picked up quite yet. Home guess for Hookipa is waist to shoulder high.
Wind map at noon. The other ones can be found here.
