Thank god I found the time to edit this video, but the backlog of clips to edit is still huge...
This is the first longboard sailing video that I shot from the front of the board.
Love it!
Even though the waves were small and the wave sailing action is somehow repetitive, I didn't feel like cutting it more, because I think that that mix of blues (the sail, the water and the sky) is just a pleasure for the eye...
So, excuse me the lenght (6 min.) and let me know if you agree with me.
I also saved it at the max resolution that WMM allows (2 Mbps) and the resulting file was 92 MB. I assume that youtube compresses it, but let me know if you could watch it ok.
Please, somebody gimme a feedback on this!!
Choosing the soundtrack was, as usual, the best part. Incredible number of good songs at around that lenght. Here's a few that didn't make it:
- Kruder Dorfmeister, Useless (this one in particular was bloody perfect...)
- Pink Martini, No hay problema
- Porcupine Tree, Fadeaway
- Ziggy Marley, Kosmik
- Lucky Dube, My game
- Zero 7, Likufanele
and a bunch of others, including Mozart, piano concert 21, second movement Andante...
But the final preference went to an italian rocker... actually to THE italian rocker: Ligabue.
I love the simplicity of his songs (most of them are four basic chords) and the lyrics go straight to your heart.
On September 10, 2005, Ligabue held a concert in Reggio Emilia to celebrate his first 15 years of activity. This attracted the record audience for a single artist pay concert in Europe, with a crowd of 200,000 coming to listen to his songs.
Too bad I wasn't there...
If you like the song, search Ligabue in youtube and listen to plenty more...
Enjoy.
PS. Don't you love those "related videos" that youtube shows at the end? Check the second but the last: Volcom Stone's pufferish surf series and watch the kids ripping at Pavils...
Surfing, what a superior sport!
PPS. Little north bump on its way for tomorrow. I predict (and hope) head high at least. Yu and hu!

Great!
That seems I should try longboard sailing!
See you in Maui
Giampaolo,
Well cut... very relaxing to watch and listen to. Also, as a novice windsurfer it was good to study your foot positioning and sail handling.
Cheers
the song you picked sucks ass
feedback on video: I'm at Coffee Roasters using Clearw're. The buffering has been real slow. After almost 4 minutes all that has shown is you outside Ho'okipa waterstarting successfully and then you make your first pump on the sail. Unfortunately it keeps stopping for buffering. The video looks cool....
Another time I'll let it run it's course buffering and then see if it will then play correctly on the second time through (but can't today). MB
Non ci sono nessune probleme vedere il video online qui, e’ bellissimo, anche ho godato la musica, le due viste della camera ed il modo della doccia tua. Va beeeeeneissimo!!!
Thanks all the for comments, keep them coming especially the ones about the download speed.
All cool at this end for download!
What was the wind speed on this day G? Long board is looking like a good option for winter here in SA!
AWESOME!!!! I like the low angle best...watching your feet and wave wake...so cool. LOVE the music!!!
Not surprised that the Maui Roasters connection sucks - in fact it's surprising that anyone can get anything at all at that location! Whenever I've tried it, it sucked big time. Download is fine at my home on Roadrunner broadband cable with wi-fi router. No issues with buffering delays, viewing is continuous and smooth. And, if I had a foot fetish, maybe I would have watched the entire clip. video.
A very beautiful dance on the waves,
the speed from adsl in italy is ok

the vid 's OK but that song..oh man! That's CRAP! dont whine too much for missing the concert. If 200,000 ppl love such a lame singer, it can only means rock music scene in Italy is really poor. how sad...
Lano, there were plenty "regular" windsurfers out, mostly schlogging... I'd say 12 knots on the waves and 16 on the outside...
I could have made it on my big wave board, but I wanted to try the mount for sailing.
I think it worked great, I can even move it a little more forward (and tape it to the board for extra safety) and have a better angle.
Now, imagine it with logo high waves... coming up soon!!!
I'll make sure to use another Ligabue song for the soundtrack of that one... eheheh...
So far, only Bob's connection wasn't fast enough, right?
GP, YouTube compressed the file to 14.54meg and converted it to Flash (flv)
