Wednesday 10 23 19 morning call

Small waves at Hookipa yesterday, this is a little video of Kane that struggled for a while to water start in the very light sunset wind and but then managed to and flew beautifully. From this point of view, winGfoiling can be very black and white: you're either stuck or flying. I also tell an anecdote that happened last week or so.

5am significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Barbers
1.6ft @ 12s from 188° (S)

Lanai
1.5ft @ 12s from 184° (S)

Small numbers at the buoys, the Lahaina webcam shows flat to waist high. Check it out yourself before going.

North shore
Waimea
3.1ft @ 9s from 337° (NNW)

Pauwela
5.3ft @ 9s from 78° (ENE)

Small energy at the buoys means small waves at Hookipa also today.

Wind map at noon.

NW Pacific shows the first small fetch of the low that will generate next week's big swell. Right now is just offshore Japan, but it will move in a more favorable position. It also has a possibly angularly spreading fetch (circled in blue) and a fairly large windswell fetch.

South Pacific has a big fetch all around New Zealand, unfortunately most of which is blocked.

Morning sky.
