Thursday 7 23 20 morning call

Another morning of waist high perfection on the south shore. North shore had some overhead NE windswelly waves.

Hurricane Douglas is approaching and its predicted path goes straight through the islands. There will be wind, waves and some very much needed rain. Pat Caldwell calls for 12ft 10s from the E on Sunday/Monday, Surfline for 20ft 10s. You probably don't want to surf Koki Beach (or any eastern exposures) those days.

3am significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Lanai
2ft @ 13s from 188° (S)

This has been a wonderful summer so far. A few big swells and an incredibly consistent knee to waist high size with many days of light wind in the mornings. Today should be another one, even though on a declining trend. Check the Lahaina webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.

North shore
Pauwela
4.2ft @ 9s from 40° (NE)
1.8ft @ 11s from 46° (NE)

9s NE swell continues, head high waves at Hookipa and on eastern exposures on tap also today.

Wind map at noon
(the other ones can be found at link n.-2 of GP's meteo websites list in the right column).

Fetches map (circles legend: red: direct aim, blue: angular spreading, black: blocked, yellow: apparent direct aim, but out of the great circle ray map, so not 100% sure).
North Pacific (about 4 days travel time from the NW corner of the North Pacific):

South Pacific (about 7 days travel time from east/west of New Zealand):
