Hookipa yesterday afternoon. Photo by Jimmie Hepp from this album.
3am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Barbers
1.6ft at 15s S 190º
NW001
1.8ft @ 15s from 178° (S)
Long period angular spreading energy picked up a bit at the buoys, it should be a decent day on the south shore. Check the Lahaina and Kihei webcam if interested, for
size, conditions and consistency.
North shore
Hanalei
0.6ft @ 16s from 11° (NNE)
Waimea
0.6ft @ 16s from 265° (W)
Mokapu
6.4ft @ 9s from 61° (ENE)
Pauwela
N/A
Bad news, Pauwela is offline. The very small 16s readings at Hanalei and Waimea could be the start of a new small NW swell that Surfline predicts to only be 0.4ft 14s from 305 at 6pm. So nothing to be expected from it today. The windswell is pretty high instead, home guess for Hookipa is for head to head and a third high and windy. Eastern exposures will have waves too.
Forecast of Pauwela from this PACIOOS page.
Wind map at noon. The other ones can be found here.
Fetches map (circles legend: red: direct aim, blue: angular spreading, black: blocked, yellow: possibly over the ice sheet) from Windy.
North Pacific (about 4 days travel time from the NW corner of the North Pacific):
