the lighter the wind the smaller the sail

Starboard photoshoot yesterday afternoon at Hookipa.

Not quite sure it was worth to rent an helicopter for those "average" conditions, but what do I know...
I got a few shots, but no time to sort them out. You get the best one now and the other ones eventually later (come back to check).

Scott McKercher has a powerful top turn indeed. Talking about which, dear windsurfers please stop calling the top turn "cutback". There's no real cutbacks in windsurfing. That's a surfing manoeuvre, leave it to surfers...

Two events to announce:
1) Tomorrow there's Tatiana's butterfly downwinder.
2) April 26 there will be the first Maui Freak and Meet, an event dedicated exclusively to owners (ok, or borrowers) of Superfreaks.

To whom it may concern: ASP is changing its rules. Here's an article that explains how. Funny how my friend Gianfranco has been picked as an example...

Lasty, I want to throw out there a quite revolutionary concept: the lighter the wind the smaller the sail. How's that sound to you guys?
Ladies and gentlemen, my new super flashy 4.0 freak. Hey, having very low chances to be noticed for what I do in the water, I'd rather be noticed for my colorful sails! ;)

PS. This morning's weather map looks really good for a wavy start of next week...

Windsurfers do cutbacks. They have more speed, more power, and more ability to carve in the critical sections than surfers do. Look at Polakow, look at Kauli, look at Scott. They do cubacks and they are sick. ... Don't think you know about these sports just because you live on Maui. (PS If you are going to be arrogant, at least back it up with some skill on the waves.)

Cutback is not only a surfing term.

Love the contraversey eheh :) I would have to side with the top turn term, cutbacks are for surfers. Hey GP, is that totally random that they chose Gianfranco? Or did he write the article :)
