Thursday 12 5 19 morning call

Double Hookipa session for me yesterday. After the surf one I took some photos (not many) and that's the best of them: a classic Hookipa close out section.

Windsurfing was more fun, because with the added power/speed of the sail it's easier to attack the lip of those close out sections. Thanks Glen for the shot.

A slightly more enthusing windsurf photo has just been published on the cover of this magazine. Local rider Charlie photographed by Ben Thouard at Teahupoo.

4am significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Barbers
1.3ft @ 12s from 204° (SSW)

Lanai
1.7ft @ 12s from 188° (S)

Very small southerly energy at the buoys, the waves on the Lahaina webcam should reflect that. Probably flat to knee high, check it out if interested.

North shore
Pauwela
2.8ft @ 7s from 53° (ENE)
2.5ft @ 9s from 28° (NNE)
1.9ft @ 11s from 340° (NNW)
1.9ft @ 10s from 18° (NNE)

Nothing new arriving today, it's going to be a transition day with relatively (for the season) small waves even at Hookipa. I will report from the beach with size info, but should be smaller than head high.

Wind map at noon

Kahului Tides
High Tide     High Tide     Low Tide     Low Tide       Sunrise   Sunset
9:50a  +1.8  11:50p  +1.5   3:03a  +1.1   5:11p  +0.5    6:50a   5:46p

North Pacific has a distant NW fetch and a closer NNE one made by sections that are directly aiming at us and (bigger) sections of which we should get some angular spreading.

Same two fetches as the last two days in the South Pacific. 1ft 15s out the Tasman Sea one predicted by Surfline on Sunday/Monday.

Morning sky.
