Friday 11 8 24 morning call

Hookipa yesterday. Photo by Jimmie Hepp from this album.

6am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion. South shore

Lanai

Small sliver of long period SW energy at Lanai. Below are the maps of Oct 31 and Nov 1 that show the fetch that generated it. Judging from the direction, it should come from the fetch indicated by the black arrow, although it's more likely that we'll receive something from the fetch with the red arrow (around 210). Either way, not much more that a foot of open ocean swell.

Check the Kihei webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.

All the buoys show leftover NW energy from yesterday's mixed periods stormy swell, while the upstream ones also show the start of a new longer period one. Below are the maps of Nov 4 and 5 that show the fetch that generated it. Surfline has it building all day to reach 4.3ft 15s at sunset locally. Home guess for Hookipa is around head and a half with occasional bigger sets with possible double overhead plus sets at sunset.

Wind map at noon. The other ones can be found here.
