Monday 3 6 7 morning call

Beautiful morning conditions at Hookipa yesterday. You take the wind out of the equation, and the surf is always good in Maui.

Matt Meola gets ready for a foiling session. I wanted to stay and shoot, but I needed to squeeze a second session before work. And I'm glad I did.

5am significant buoy readings
South shore

Lanai
3.8ft @ 13s from 283° (WNW)

Definitely waves in Kihei, check the webcams.

North shore
NW101
8.4ft @ 14s from 317° (NW)
5.8ft @ 10s from 297° (WNW)

Waimea
7.8ft @ 14s from 312° (NW)
3.3ft @ 12s from 309° (WNW)
2ft @ 9s from 319° (NW)

Pauwela
4.9ft @ 15s from 315° (NW)
4.6ft @ 13s from 320° (NW)
3.3ft @ 9s from 16° (NNE)
2.2ft @ 11s from 324° (NW)

Mix of periods and directions at the buoys. Check the very wide directional spectrum of Pauwela this morning. There's energy coming from 255 all the way to 105. Highest energy is from 315 though and that's what the highest reading is from.
With NW101 and Waimea backing up with solid numbers, no shortage of overhead waves also today.

Despite the mix of swells in the water, the lack of wind will make the waves look good. This map is for 2pm.

Current wind map shows:
1) perfectly oriented beautiful strong fetch. Resulting swell forecasted by Surfline to peak at 12f 15s from 328 on Thursday morning.
2) windswell fetch

I decided to keep the number of boards in my car down to four, and I'm selling everything else that doesn't fit.

This 6.0x30.5L will be for sale at Hi-Tech Paia for $345 starting tomorrow. That means that I'm willing to sell it for $300 today only. I'll be at Hi-Tech Kahului 2-6pm if you want to check it out.
