Wing
downwinders conditions have been pretty epic this week. Here's 15
minutes of three different runs while testing Armstrong tails.
6am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Lanai
- 0.7ft, 18s, S 190º
- 0.7ft, 14s, S 190º
Barbers
- 1ft, 18s, S 180º
- 1ft, 14s, S 185º
New small 18s energy is at the buoys. Below are the maps of August 3 though 5 showing the fetch that generated it. As you can see, it moved west to east quite quickly, so don't expect much out of it.
Check the Lahaina webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.
North shore
Mokapu
- 4.5ft, 8s, E 85º
- 4.2ft, 5s, ENE 75º
- 0.3ft, 18s, E 90º
Windswell only on the north shore. Home guess for Hookipa is around waist high.
Wind map at noon. The other ones can be found here.
Fetches map (circles legend: red: direct aim,
blue: angular spreading, black: blocked, yellow: possibly over the
ice sheet) from Windy.
South Pacific (about 7 days travel time from east/west of New Zealand):
