The NW swell that has been in our waters since the first day of the year is winding down at the local buoys, but already a new potentially XL one shows almost 9ft 15s at the NW buoy. Below are the maps of January 2 and 3 that show the fetch that generated it. Surfline calls for 7ft 19s at 6pm, but it's pretty evident that it's not going to be that big. Tough one to predict also for the models, as there's a lot of angular spreading involved (max energy going towards the west coast). Home guess for Hookipa is around head to head and a third in the morning with much bigger sizes later in the day.
