Out of season south swell is at the buoys, but there's an onshore flow (at least in the morning). Check the Kihei webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.

New XL WNW is rising at the buoys. The maps of Jan 14 though 16 below show the fetch that generated it. As you can see, it's a pretty westerly one (direction at the NW buoy confirms that) and that means that the more you move from Hookipa towards Kahului, the smaller the size and the lower the consistency will be. Home guess for Hookipa is around head to head high with occasionally bigger sets to start the day with, building to double to triple overhead at sunset. As usual, the wind will play the most important role. It should be calm or light offshore in the first hours of light and then turn onshore around noon.
