Sunday 3 3 19 morning call

A longboard and a windfoiling session for me yesterday.
Eject button successfully pushed.

Eddie got relatively late into foiling, but he pretty much ripped right away.

This is a wave (or two) by Dave Kalama in the midst of pure peacefulness.

Later on Jimmie Hepp took some photos at Hookipa. This is Kai Lenny and this is the album.

4am significant buoy readings
South shore
Lanai
0.8ft @ 15s from 219° (SW)

Nice long period reading at Lanai. Below are the fetch maps of Feb 23, 24 and 26 (don't have the 25, as I was off island) and they do show some fetches here and there. Direction (if true) seems to suggest a Tasman Sea origin. Barbers doesn't register it and that's always a bad sign. I'd say check all the webcams you can (listed in the webcam section of this blog) before going. If there was one in Lahaina, it would be a lot easier, so please contact Ozolio if you have the possibility to host one.

North Shore
NW101
6.4ft @ 9s from 16° (NNE)
4.4ft @ 11s from 357° (N)
N
3.8ft @ 10s from 17° (NNE)
2.6ft @ 12s from 322° (NW)
Hanalei
4.5ft @ 14s from 317° (NW)
3.3ft @ 7s from 46° (NE)
Waimea
3.5ft @ 10s from 1° (N)
3.3ft @ 12s from 320° (NW)
Pauwela
4.4ft @ 9s from 27° (NNE)
2.8ft @ 13s from 323° (NW)
A little bit of medium period leftover NW energy and a little bit of short period NNE energy will give life to the usual mix of head high waves at Hookipa, smaller down the coast. The wind should be fairly light in the first hours of light.

Wind map at noon.

North Pacific has a remote NW fetch and a nearby N one.

The S fetch east of New Zealand is still there, but weaker than yesterday.

Morning sky.
