Monday 5 13 19 morning call

A shortboard and a longboard session for me yesterday (both in spots I surfed for the first time). In between I stopped by the longboard contest and took some shots.

Lovely distraction.

Didn't stay there long as the wind came up quite a bit (as predicted by the model). Jimmie Hepp has a gallery on facebook.

 Offshore for this guy instead.

Freight train looked pretty fun.

Tubular vision.

A nice bottom turn...

...set him in the right spot.

If you were wondering how La Perouse looked like in the past couple of days, here's an album by Fish Bowl Diaries.

5am significant buoy readings
South shore
Barbers
4.5ft @ 17s from 196° (SSW)

Lanai
4.8ft @ 17s from 194° (SSW)

Impressive numbers at the buoy, today should be the biggest day of this swell and that is not necessarily a good thing. Most spots between Ukumehame and Lahaina were closing out already yesterday. The Lahaina webcam shows waves up to occasionally double overhead.

North shore
Pauwela
2.7ft @ 9s from 43° (NE)
1.8ft @ 7s from 52° (ENE)

Tiny stuff at the buoy, tiny waves at Hookipa is my call from home.

Wind map at noon.

North Pacific has a small fetch between 300 and 310.

South Pacific stirring waters again for our next week delight.

Morning sky.
