Tuesday 2 15 22 morning call

Hookipa yesterday afternoon.

4am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Barbers is mostly reading NW wrap and can't be used to detect the small long period southerly energy that we know is in the water. Check the Lahaina and Kihei webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.

North shore
NW101
12.5ft @ 17s from 307° (WNW)

Hanalei

7.9ft @ 17s from 301° (WNW)

Waimea

6.3ft @ 17s from 308° (WNW)

Mokapu
3.8ft @ 9s from 33° (NE)

New long period WNW swell picked up at the NW buoys bigger than most forecast predicted (below are the NW101 map and the Surfline forecast). It will rise locally all day up to extra large levels at sunset. Home guess for Hookipa in the morning is for inconsistent sets around head and a half.

The maps of Feb 11 through 14 below show the start of the fetch (black arrows) in a westerly position, so Kihei might have waves.
