The Aloha Classic at Hookipa yesterday, photo by FishBowlDiaries. They decided to delay the finals of the Pros to today, which means we get another day of streaming here.
6am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion. South shore
No southerly energy at the buoys. Check the Kihei webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.
North shore
NW001
- 5.7ft, 14s, NNW 345º
- 1.6ft, 17s, NNW 330º
Waimea
- 4.5ft, 13s, NW 315º
- 1.1ft, 18s, N 350º
Pauwela
- 4.8ft, 8s, NE 55º
- 2.1ft, 13s, NW 325º
- 2ft, 11s, NNW 340º
Although some of the buoys do show some small long period readings, it doesn't look like it will get that big locally. Fortunately there's still some NW medium period energy and almost 5ft 8s of NE windswell in the water, so there will be some waves no matter what. Home guess for Hookipa is around head high plus in the morning, hopefully building to well overhead later in the day.
Wind map at noon. The other ones can be found here.
Fetches map (circles legend: red: direct aim, blue: angular spreading, black: blocked, yellow: possibly over the ice sheet) from Windy.
