Thursday 1 22 26

No photos from yesterday, this is Mr. Bennetts on the Gironde river in France, the trippiest foiling environment I've ever seen. Like a skate park with the walls that change shape while you ride them.

Moderate size NW energy is at the local buoys, predicted to increase in the afternoon. Home guess for Hookipa is around head to occasionally head and a half. No wind in the morning, so it could be pretty clean, although with still a possible stormy look after yesterday's onshore wind.

Wind map at noon. The other ones can be found here.

The moderate NW swell I discussed yesterday (red arrow fetch) peaked overnight and today it's going to be slowly declining while the next one (black arrow fetch in yesterday's collage) is already at the NW buoys. It could start showing locally towards the end of the day, but the westerly direction will make it not ideal for our north shore specially towards Kahului. Home guess for Hookipa is around head to occasionally head and a half. The wind should be light in the morning, but at one point turn onshore (it's already like that on Oahu and Molokai). The wind maps below have not been updated for two days, so I wouldn't rely on them.
7:47am update: the wind just started blowing NW at Kanaha. So, expect onshore conditions.

Wind map at noon (two days old prediction). The other ones can be found here.

The NW swell of the last couple of days is down to less than 2ft 13s at Pauwela, but there's a similar size one already on the rise (see NW buoy reading). It comes from the fetch indicated by the red arrow in the maps of Jan 17 through 19 below. The black arrow instead indicates a very similar fetch that made for another moderate pulse that will start overlapping tomorrow. Home guess for Hookipa is around chest to head high and clean in the morning, slowly building in the late afternoon to possibly overhead at sunset (2.7ft 15s predicted by Surfline at 6pm).

Wind map at noon. The other ones can be found here.

The fetch I posted yesterday only lasted one day, so the swell that peaked yesterday evening and last night will be on the decline today and tomorrow. Home guess for Hookipa is around head and a half to double and clean in the morning with a SE flow.
