Saturday 9 19 20 morning call

Thanks to Renew Your Spirit for the donation.

Jimmie Hepp shot the windsurfers at Hookipa enjoying the NE swell. The rest of the shots in this gallery.

Sunset was pretty spectacular.

4am significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Barbers

2.8ft @ 8s from 163° (SSE)
1.9ft @ 14s from 194° (SSW)
0.9ft @ 20s from 192° (SSW)

Lanai

2.4ft @ 8s from 170° (S)
1.6ft @ 14s from 191° (SSW)
1.1ft @ 5s from 159° (SSE)
0.9ft @ 20s from 197° (SSW)

Mix of periods again, Pat Caldwell explains the complex fetches configuration that generated them on his page. Bit too long to copy and paste, read it there if interested and check the collage of the maps below (Sept 11 through 15) to follow better.

The long period energy could be building to inconsistent head high sets today, but with the Tasman Sea swells, you never know. Check the Lahaina webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency. Looks like onshore this morning.

North shore
NW101
2.9ft @ 11s from 334° (NNW)

Pauwela

3.3ft @ 9s from 39° (NE)
2.7ft @ 5s from 79° (ENE)

NE energy staying similar to yesterday, while the 11s NNW energy at the NW buoy should also be visible in the afternoon. Another fun day at Hookipa with waves possibly up to head high plus in the middle of the day with the help of the active windswell.

Wind map at noon (the other ones can be found at link n.-2 of GP's meteo websites list in the right column).

Fetches map (circles legend: red: direct aim, blue: angular spreading, black: blocked, yellow: apparent direct aim, but out of the great circle ray map, so not 100% sure).
North Pacific (about 4 days travel time from the NW corner of the North Pacific):

South Pacific (about 7 days travel time from east/west of New Zealand):

Morning sky.
