Monday 5 16 22 morning call

Menehune kinda waves for the Ian Walsh Menehune contest yesterday at Hookipa.

As usual, it was a lovely and festive atmosphere and tons of kids participated.
5am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.

South shore
Barbers

1.7ft at 14s S 190º
0.5ft at 22s S 170º

Barbers shows a decent 14s southerly energy together with the very long period forerunning energy out of the fetches I posted yesterday. Check the Lahaina and Kihei webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.

North shore
Mokapu

4ft @ 6s from 96° (E)
3.7ft @ 9s from 92° (E)

NOAA says: The winds are becoming weaker, and shifting out of the east- southeast to southeast this morning. That means that the already diminishing easterly windswell will get even smaller. That might also be the reason of the light onshore flow you see in the Lahaina webcam above. Hookipa should be pretty flat and glassy and overall epic for snorkeling this morning.

Wind map at noon. The other ones can be found here.
