Tuesday 5 3 22 morning call

Hookipa yesterday.

4am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.

South shore
Barbers
2.7ft at 18s S 190º

Long period southerly energy up to a significant 2.7ft 18s at Barbers. Check the Lahaina and Kihei webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency. Plenty size at the Breakwall.

North shore
NW101

5.3ft @ 14s from 320° (NW)
3.2ft @ 20s from 296° (WNW)

Hanalei

4.1ft @ 15s from 318° (NW)
1ft @ 22s from 309° (WNW)

Waimea
4.6ft @ 15s from 319° (NW)

Mokapu
7.4ft @ 9s from 83° (E)

The NW swell generated by the fetches in the maps of April 28 and 29 that I posted yesterday (sorry, originally mistaken indicated with 29 and 30) is peaking this morning. The 20s and 22s readings at NW and Hanalei belong to another new and higher WNW-NW swell that was generated by the fetches in the maps of April 30 to May 2 (below) and that will be slowly rising underneath the existing one and is predicted to peak tomorrow evening.

The Surfline forecast below indicates this overlap between swells. Purple graph is the first swell, blue graph is the second. Much clearer than explaining it by words.
Home guess for Hookipa is for head and a half to possibly double. Should stay pretty steady all day with a possible increase from the second swell in the late afternoon.

Wind map at noon (1 day old prediction). The other ones can be found here.
