Sunday 5 1 22 morning call

Hookipa yesterday afternoon.

This is Matahi Drollet on a wave a Teahupoo on April 29 that to my eyes looked impossible from the beginning to the end. Another big south swell is headed our way.

4am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.

South shore
Barbers

0.7ft at 17s S 170º
0.4ft at 22s S 180º

Couple of small long period readings at Barbers. Last week there have been multiple fetches in the area S to SE of New Zealand. Below is the map of April 23rd that shows the first of them (circled in blue). I'll post the much stronger ones that made for those Tahiti waves tomorrow. There should be waves all week (unfortunately with strong trades that might mess up the winds on the other side also) and Surfline is calling for an impressive 4ft 18s on Tuesday.

Check the Lahaina and Kihei webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.

North shore
NW001
3.5ft @ 11s from 324° (NW)

Hanalei
2.8ft @ 12s from 317° (NW)

Waimea

2.3ft @ 12s from 320° (NW)
2ft @ 11s from 319° (NW)

Mokapu

4.8ft @ 7s from 75° (ENE)
4.4ft @ 8s from 81° (E)

Small NW energy continues at the upstream buoys. Home guess for Hookipa is for waist to shoulder high.

Wind map at noon. The other ones can be found here.
