- Born and raised in Italy, I became an engineer and worked 11 years in the IT industry. Sick of that, in 2001 I wanted to take a year off and spend it in Maui, the best windsurfing spot in the world. Not only I'm still here (in Maui), but I also got into surfing. And the stoke is flying high. Life is too short to work 8 hours a day...

Was that just off Lahaina? 6am, crikey you must have been up early to get over there for that!
Off Kanaha. The moon is setting to the west over the West Maui Mountain, the sun is rising to the east from the Haleakala.
We almost ran over a whale. I filmed it, but it was too dark for the camera to catch it.
Overall, quite a magic experience.
canoe all the time up here in Canada but there are no outriggers on the type of canoe we use.
I'm jealous....all my practice was in Kahalui Harbor with afternoon winds.
When I read your title I confess canoeing wasn't what I had in mind for your post!
