Friday 1 17 20 morning call

Many small readings of different periods, directions and sources at Barbers, the south shore might be a possible option today, specially seen the onshore wind on the north shore. Below is the collage of the maps of the 10, 11 and 12 showing the Tasman Sea fetch that generated the Fiji swell. Might be a bit early for that energy, but I did see a 0.2ft 22s reading at 4am. Check the Lahaina webcam it looks clean but pretty minimal.

ENE windswell quickly down to 5ft 10s locally while a foot and half from the NW fetches we saw in yesterday's collage (don't believe the reported direction) is in the water too. Not too much to play with really, Hookipa will be pretty small, bigger sizes possible on eastern exposures. The NW buoys are already feeling the short period N swell associated with the relative close N fetch we saw on yesterday's and today's maps.

Below is the graph of NW001 which shows a sharp rise around sunset time yesterday. Hard to tell exactly the arrival time locally, it'll be sometime in the late afternoon and it might peak during the night. Nothing to be overly excited about though, because the passage of the associated front will create local winds that will clock from the N to the NE in the usual fashion, so pretty onshore/choppy conditions.

North Pacific has the circled fetches, the close one is the one producing the short period N energy arriving tonight.
