Thursday 7 14 22 morning call

Hookipa yesterday.

Just yesterday, hurricane Darby still had a well defined eye (not anymore today). It's predicted to keep weakening and pass just south of Big Island. The only Maui place that should see some waves out of it should be Hana.

5am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.

South shore
Lanai

  • 2.8ft
    , 15s, S 180º
  • 1.2ft
    , 18s, SSE 160º

Barbers

  • 2.7ft
    , 17s, S 185º

South swell keep showing good numbers at the buoys. Check the Lahaina webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.

North shore

Mokapu

  • 5.9ft
    , 8s, E 90º

Hilo

  • 2.8ft
    , 12s, SE 125º

The 12s reading at Hilo should be energy from Darby. Windswell only on the north shore, home guess for Hookipa is waist to chest high, bigger on eastern exposures.

Wind map at noon. The other ones can be found here.
