Sunday 1 15 23 morning call

Hookipa yesterday mid day.

The Jaws videos of January 11 are being posted, here's a really good one with the name of each surfer.

The Da Hui Backdoor Shootout contest at Pipeline had incredible waves yesterday and should be on also today. This is yesterday's streaming, at 8:13 they show the best ones of the whole day.

6am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.

South shore
Lanai

  • 2.6ft
    , 7s, SSE 155º

Barbers

  • 2.3ft
    , 8s, SSE 165º

SSE windswell at the buoys. Check the Lahaina webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.

North shore
NW001

  • 11.4ft
    , 15s, WNW 295º

Hanalei

  • 6.7ft
    , 17s, NW 315º
  • 5.3ft
    , 13s, NW 310º

Waimea

  • 6.9ft
    , 17s, NW 315º
  • 2.7ft
    , 14s, NW 310º

Long period WNW swell peaked yesterday night and will stay elevated all day. Direction at the NW buoy is 295, so expect consistency on the north shore to be progressively less as you move from Hookipa to Kahului. Home guess for Hookipa is double overhead plus in the sets.

Wind map at noon. The other ones can be found here.
