Tuesday 1 10 23 morning call

Thanks John for the donation.

Hookipa yesterday afternoon had excellent waves.

4am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.

South shore
No southerly energy at the buoys. Check the Lahaina webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.

North shore

Hanalei

Waimea

  • 5.1ft

Moderate NW energy continues at the buoys. Home guess for Hookipa is for head and a half and clean. Despite the La Nina classification, locally this winter has been a classic one with not much wind and plenty swells so far. And the swell size is about to intensify with a XL swell arriving tomorrow from the close by storm you've seen on the fetches maps in the last few days. After that, another fairly big one over the weekend and a possible giant one around January 22 (Surfline calling for 20ft 19s at the moment, pretty close to the legendary 20@20 that I've personally never witnessed).

Wind map at noon. The other ones can be found here.
