Thursday 1 5 22 morning call

No photos from yesterday. This is a shot I took at Uluwatu years ago.

6am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.

The Lanai reading looks decent, let's look at where that energy comes from. Below are the maps of December 27 through 30. I put a black arrow on the small fetch that probably generated it. I also pointed out with a blue arrow a one day only Tasman Sea fetch on the 28 (probably responsible for that 0.3ft 20s at Barbers) and another one with a yellow arrow SE of New Zealand on the 29 and 30. So there might also be longer period small energy in the next few days.

Check the Lahaina webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.

The buoys came up again yesterday afternoon and today we're dealing with 5-6ft 11-12s from NNW. Home guess for Hookipa is head and a half to possibly double and no wind, but probably still wobbly and with irregular breaking patterns.

Wind map at noon. The other ones can be found here.
